As you come to the end of your training program are you starting to think about what you will do next? Are you trying to figure out what kind of practice you will join? Are you weighing the hospital based practice model and the community based practice model? I would like to tell you about a community based practice opportunity in Salem, Oregon. Salem Wellness Clinic is a new primary care practice that is focused on wellness. We believe that an ounce of prevention is worth more than pounds of cure. We are building a practice based on patient engagement and improved health and wellness. Our patients are encouraged to embrace better health by active participation in healthy activities and healthy life style choices.
We believe in 20 minute appointments. This is the bare minimum to manage health issues and get to know your patients. As you can imagine this 20 minute rule will limit your income but it will not limit your job satisfaction. I am aware that you can generate a much larger income if you see 60 or more patients per day. Our practice is based on old fashioned medical care with high technology assistance. Caring and nurturing relationships with patients and the most up to date technology to back you up.
We have a beautiful office with great street side appeal, centrally located and a state of the art electronic record to assist you in providing high quality care to your patients. No short cuts, no mega-clinics visits with five minute appointments and no hospital privileges. Our hospital has a full staff of hospitalists available to manage in patient care. You go home at night. Night call consists of carrying your pager and cellphone to triage the few calls that may arise from a patient that is ill. We educate patients on when to call so calls are minimal.
