Job Description

The Center for Asbestos Related Disease (CARD) is seeking a full time physician. In the rural community of Libby, Montana, CARD has emerged as a national center of excellence in addressing health care and research associated with Libby Amphibole Asbestos. CARD is a non-profit clinic created in response to the nation's first Public Health Emergency declared by EPA.
Clinical care of patients with environmental exposure to Libby Amphibole allows a depth of understanding of asbestos disease, over the course of individual progression and across generations. This unique perspective translated into informed research opportunities, increasing the chance of developing meaningful therapeutic intervention. To facilitate research CARD maintains key relationships with research affiliates including Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Idaho State University, and others. Projects have included research on bio-markers, childhood exposures, radiographic disease progression, mechanisms of disease, and psychosocial responses.
In addition to advancing the science of ARD through academic research relationships, providers maintain a part-time clinical schedule managing advanced asbestos disease as well as supporting a national asbestos health screening program. Four medical providers and a team of twenty staff members provide holistic patient care, including counseling service, respiratory therapy, case management, community outreach and education.
CARD is an outpatient clinic, open to patients Monday through Thursday, with no call requirements, serving an expanding patient population of 4,500.
