LAHEY HEALTH EMERGENCY MEDICINE OPPORTUNITY-METRO BOSTON

Lahey Health/Lahey Medical Center Peabody is currently seeking an ABEM or ABOEM Certified Emergency Medicine Physician with exceptional clinical acumen, well-developed interpersonal skills, and a strong commitment to patient centered care. The ED in Peabody averages approximately 17,500 patient visits per year with a broad mix of high and low acuity cases. The daily census averages approximately 45-65 patients with a 12% to 15% admission rate. Nights are very manageable with patient volume typically averaging less than 1 patient per hour. Physicians are responsible for covering approximately 1 to 2 night shifts per month. The ED is staffed with 8 Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physicians and approximately 32 nursing and support staff. It is a very collegial group. The ED is part of a system of affiliated EDs with the main tertiary hub based at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, MA. The ED in Burlington averages approximately 38,000 patients annually with a high level of acuity. It is staffed by 15 full time physicians and a full complement of nursing and support staff. A new Emergency Medicine Center is currently under construction at The Medical Center and scheduled to open in the next 12 to 18 months. The Peabody ED Position could be ideal for physicians who enjoy a broad range of acuity with a significantly less stressful case load. Interested candidates might have the option to split time between the ED in Peabody and the ED at The Medical Center in Burlington.

Burlington and Peabody are very desirable suburban communities approximately 20 to 30 minutes from downtown Boston. Communities in the area offer a range of housing options. Several offer school systems that are consistently ranked among the best in the country. Overall, this is a highly desirable area offering an abundance of social, recreational and cultural amenities as well as easy access to Boston, the coast, the mountains, and all that New England has to offer.
