Emergency Medicine Physician (FP Trained)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Emergency Medicine is the medical specialty dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of unforeseen illness or injury. The practice of emergency medicine includes the initial evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and disposition of any patient requiring expeditions medical, surgical, or psychiatric care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A. EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: Possession of a Doctorate in Medicine, License to practice Medicine in Iowa, and Board Eligible or Board Certified in Pediatrics.

B. KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS: Possess good communication skills and is able to respond effectively during periods of high patient volume. Must display pleasant manner and appearance commensurate with public relations aspect of the job. Able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.

C. LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS: Licensed to practice in the State of Iowa. Board Eligible/Board Certified.

A. RESPONSIBLE TO: Medical Director, Emergency Department

B. WORKERS SUPERVISED: None

C. INTER-RELATIONSHIPS: Active Medical Staff, Nursing staff, patients, Family, Community members, EMS personnel, Vendors

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

•  Frequent prolonged standing/walking
• Occasionally lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients
• Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
• Necessitates frequent verbal and written communication
