Job Description
Currently seeking experienced Psychiatrist with an innovative spirit to improve the health status of our Native American population.
Permanent Full-Time Psychiatrist (Medical Officer GS-13/14/15) located at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center (PIMC) in Phoenix, Arizona. PIMC provides direct health care services to over 140,000 patients. The Tribes that comprise the Phoenix Service Unit are The Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation , the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community , and the San Lucy District of the Tohono Oodham Nation , the Tonto Apache Tribe , the Yavapai-Apache Indian Tribe , and the Yavapai-Prescott Indian Tribe . Tribal members who receive care at PIMC are often residents of the greater Phoenix area and hail from Tribes throughout the U.S. PIMC also provides specialty care to rural and remote reservation health care facilities in Arizona, Nevada, and Utah.
Duties
Serves as a Medical Officer (Psychiatry) in performance of diagnostic, preventive and/or therapeutic services.
Provides direct inpatient care, inpatient consultation services and defined procedures and diagnostic tests in the specialty of Internal Medicine, Internal Medicine/Pediatrics or Family Medicine.
Functions as consultant specialist to medical personnel and to physicians at field hospitals.
Performs specific diagnostic and therapeutic interventions as required.
Works with midlevel providers and other health care professionals in the management of the patients medical, psychological and social problems.
