We have a full-spectrum Emergency Department and 86 acute care hospital beds, including 8 ICU and 10 step-down beds. CCRMC is nationally recognized for its excellent Family Medicine Residency, cancer program and visitor welcoming policy. We are currently seeking a Physician for Perioperative Services with a commitment to continued learning, teaching and providing excellent care in Contra Costa County, California.

This will be one-stop for all the perioperative needs of the patients including: H&P documentation and clearance, labs, testing, anesthesia risk stratification and education.

Position is 20 hours perioperative medicine clinics (inclusive of administrative time) and 20 hours adult medicine primary care clinics. A part-time only position in perioperative medicine is also possible. There is already a physician lead for the service line and this role would require working closely with the other physician. The perioperative physician will optimize medically complex patients, perform risk stratification and education and post-operative planning in collaboration with anesthesia and surgery.

Primary Perioperative Responsibilities:

Provide oversight and collaboration with the entire perioperative team
Integrate perioperative protocols/policies and standardize work flow using evidence-based practices for anesthesia delivery
Evaluate/optimize high risk patients, while supervising Nurse practitioners, perioperative nurse educator and other staff
Be available during clinic hours to answer specific questions from patients as well as practitioners regarding the perioperative plan from all areas of the health care system
Evaluate results of lab testing, radiographic and cardiac studies in conjunction with other providers/specialties to confirm patient readiness for surgery and anesthesia

Primary Care Responsibilities:

Sustain a minimum of four clinics per week in one location and manage an adjusted panel of patients in the context of a Primary Care Medical Home supported by a team consisting of an LVN panel manager, a care coordinator (clerk level) and an MA.

Desirable Qualifications:

Seeking candidates with MD or DO and board-certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. Specialized training or experience in perioperative medicine is highly desired. Also desired is participation in administrative, medical staff, residency or QI leadership roles. Excellent communication and trouble-shooting skills are required.

We have a top-ten, UCSF-affiliated Family Medicine Residency Program. We are located 30 miles east of San Francisco, with excellent weather and close to outstanding cultural, recreational and natural attractions. We are one hour from the Napa Valley wine country and 2 hours to skiing.

Excellent compensation package includes malpractice, generous vacation, sick leave, paid CME, defined pension and much more.
