Contra Costa Regional Medical Center is a 164-bed acute care hospital in Martinez, CA, providing approximately 6,253 surgeries per year and performing 2,198 deliveries and 661 C-sections per year in Labor and Delivery. The hospital is part of Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers, a division of Contra Costa Health Services that provides health care to residents of Contra Costa County.
Due to expansion in services of our collegial all-physician group, we are seeking to add a full-time Anesthesiologist to our department of 8 full-time Anesthesiologists. Our Anesthesiologists mainly administer anesthesia in the main ORs and in Labor and Delivery. The majority of the OR cases are comprised of: General Surgery, Orthopedics, Gynecology, Urology, Plastics, ENT and GI endoscopies. Cardiothoracic, neurosurgical and vascular surgeries are not performed at CCRMC. In Labor and Delivery we maintain a 24-hour presence primarily to be available to place and manage labor analgesia and surgical anesthesia for obstetric surgeries. Outside of the OR, we are available to provide a variety of additional services, including Emergency airway management, sedation for procedures, acute pain management interventions, as well as other therapeutic or diagnostic interventions. We serve as the anesthesiology consultants for the entire hospital and health centers.
A typical schedule is five days on with two days off. You will be on-call typically 2-3 times per week. Weekday OR call is 24 hours, with call from home once the scheduled cases have finished for the day. Post call day is usually free. OB night call is in-house comprised of a five day assignment, covering L&D for 12 hours during the night with daytime hours off. On weekends OR call is 24 hours from home. OB weekend call is 24 hours in house. Additionally, the schedule is such that additional work hours can be obtained for those interested in increasing their earning potential.
The City of Martinez is located north east of San Francisco in the east bay, no more than 20 miles away; 1 hour to the Napa Valley wine country; and 2 hours to skiing. Approximately 36,700 residents call Martinez home. It serves as the county seat for Contra Costa County. Three of the 4 elementary schools in the Martinez School District are Contra Costa Gold Ribbon Schools for 2016. In 2015, the Junior High and the High School were similarly honored. The Carquinez Strait provides access to boating in the Bay and Delta. Mt. Diablo and Briones Regional Parks have excellent hiking and biking trails.
