Job Description
NEW BEDFORD, MA--We are looking for a Child Psychiatrist for our Outpatient Mental Health clinic. This is a full-time 40 hour position. The Child Psychiatrist will provide each client with quality psychiatric services as deemed appropriate by the Medical Director. The psychiatrist is a non-exempt medical professional who actively supports and implements the established treatment goals and principles of the agency. The psychiatrist will treat children, adolescent and adults within the context of recognizable and sound medical standards. S/he is directly responsible to the Medical Director.

Qualifications:
Licensed to practice psychiatry in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Board-Certified or board eligible before the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
MD degree; Board eligible as a Child Psychiatrist
Must be available to work on-call within a rotating schedule
Responsibilities:
The following responsibilities are not meant to be all inclusive and may be adjusted to meet the agencys needs.
Evaluate psychiatric, neurological and psychopharmacological status of clients
Participate in the development of client diagnoses and behaviorally oriented treatment plans
Prescribe and supervise psychopharmacology
Evaluate clients for hospitalization
Participate in multidisciplinary team and Continuous Quality Improvement Committee
Develop policies and protocols for pharmacological procedures
Participate in planning and development of psychiatric and mental health services within a managed care framework
Provide emergency and crisis intervention services
Be available for consultation when needed, to staff and other service providers
Assess and refer, where appropriate, non-psychiatric health problems
Provide Psychiatric evaluation and consultation for 9 children in the 24 hour program (Community Based Acute Treatment) CBAT
Attend weekly Peer Review meetings
Provide training to staff
