Thoracic Surgeon Lefcourt Family Cancer Center at Englewood Hospital

The Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Lefcourt Family Cancer Treatment & Wellness Center at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center is seeking a Thoracic Surgeon.

The successful candidate shall be a practicing physician who will work with the Medical Center leadership to further develop a rapidly expanding and comprehensive thoracic surgery program in collaboration with our existing multidisciplinary cancer team. The thoracic surgeon will represent the Thoracic Oncology Program within the MIS and Robotics Program. This position will include leadership opportunities to direct a fully functioning thoracic disease management team and clinical multidisciplinary thoracic disease focused practice, with direct collegial onsite support from medical oncology, pulmonary medicine and nurse navigation. The clinical practice includes directing the future vision of the lung cancer program. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to collaborate with the NCI in evaluating the genetic abnormalities associated with progression in lung cancer along with other research opportunities.

This position will help lead patient care and clinical research activity. Responsibilities will include directing multidisciplinary tumor site specific cancer conferences and partnering in Disease Management Teams to standardize protocols of patient care, improve quality metrics and review potential clinical trials. A demonstrated record of prior clinical and/or research experience in Thoracic oncology is preferred.

Our Cancer Center has eight established DMTs each coordinated by recognized subspecialty Surgical and Medical Oncologists. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to build and grow his or her career, and have a direct influence on the direction and shape of oncologic care at our practice and medical center for years to come! Working in close collaboration with subspecialists of multiple disciplines, the medical oncology practice has a long-standing tradition and reputation for providing care that is patient-centered, compassionate, and second-to-none. We actively participate in clinical trials and educate medical students and house staff. Based in a brand new, state-of-the art facility, The Lefcourt Family Cancer Treatment & Wellness Center at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center includes a 36-bay infusion center, a cutting-edge Radiation Oncology suite with two new Varian True Beams, and the full range of medical, surgical, genetic counseling, and Palliative Care services. The Lefcourt Family Cancer Treatment & Wellness Center is COC and NAPBC accredited and features oncology certified nurse practitioners, an oncology certified pharmacist, research coordinators, nurse navigators, nutritionists, chaplains, and integrative medicine providers. The candidate will be considered for an Academic Appointment as part of the Seton Hall University Medical School.

The Lefcourt Family Cancer Treatment & Wellness Center represents a new standard for cancer care where patients are treated as guests with amenities to ensure a comfortable and convenient experience. The newly constructed 185,000 sq. ft. facility houses all cancer services and specialists in one location. Referrals come from but are not limited to 335 providers in the MD Partner Network which spans across 6 counties in NY & NJ with over 79 locations. The cancer center has been designated as a Comprehensive Community Cancer Program by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, an affiliate of Hackensack Meridian Health, is located just outside New York City.

Requirements

- M.D. degree; accredited internship and residency.
- Board Certified in Thoracic Surgery.
- Completion of fellowship in Cardio-thoracic or Thoracic Surgical Oncology.
- Minimally invasive thoracic surgery training is required.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills required.
