DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
This position functions as Clinical Director and serves as a consultant for difficult clinical cases, either directly or as supervisor to other physicians, and is the final point of reference for psychiatric and medical clinical matters.
Job responsibilities include the following:
*Direct and manage the Medical Department (psychiatry and medical care)
*Ensure "best practices" by administratively and clinically supervising the psychiatric staff and Medical Director responsible for primary medical care staff
*Interface with various community and state agencies to promote coordination of care for patients
*Evaluate the credentials and qualifications of medical staff
*Serve as member of the facility executive leadership team and partners with other members to ensure facility operates efficiently and maintains continuity of care for patients
*Oversee Pharmacy functions
*Responsible for compliance with Joint Commission and CMS standards and for communicating standards with other executive leaders and staff.
* Provide oversight for Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) as assigned.
The normal work hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m.; however, the position serves as Administrator On-Call as assigned and may be required to provide coverage and will occasionally need to assess and treat patients.
Salary Grade MG17; Recruitment Range: $165,476 - $261,301
R.J. Blackley Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Center (RJB) in Butner, NC. RJB is one of three inpatient centers for treatment of co-occurring substance use disorders in conjunction with other mental and medical illnesses. RJB is accredited by the Joint Commission and Certified by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as an inpatient psychiatric hospital.
Our location is ideal with four seasons, mild temperatures, and provides an easy commute to the N.C. mountains or beaches. Butner possesses small town charm but is within 30 minutes of a major metropolitan area including Research Triangle Park, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, and Durham, NC.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES / COMPETENCIES:

Knowledge of alcohol and other drug dependence disorders, psychiatric disorders, and medical skills in differential diagnosis.

Strong leadership skills and knowledge of administrative principles.
Thorough knowledge of the theory, principles, and practices of general, preventive, and applicable specialty medicine and of the techniques involved.
Thorough knowledge of developments in the field of addiction medicine.
Considerable knowledge of medical rules and regulations.
Thorough knowledge of biological, social and psychological development process of patients served.
General knowledge of planning, budgeting and policy-making processes.
Skill in leadership and management techniques.
Ability to lead interdisciplinary teams in developing and managing patient quality care practices.
Ability to represent the needs of clinical care services to decision makers who provide resources.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to pass and maintain NCVI certification and CPR certification.
Management Preferences:
*Two years or more of inpatient experience treating patients with addiction disorders compounded by significant other psychiatric and/or medical co-morbidity.
*Board certified in Psychiatry.
*American Board of Addiction Medicine certification or eligibility.
*Professional knowledge of Methadone and Buprenorphine.
*Working knowledge of The Joint Commission and CMS standards for inpatient psychiatric hospitals.
*Previous formal management experience preferred
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Licensed to practice medicine in the state of North Carolina and three years of experience including two years in health services delivery management.
