We are currently recruiting for a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Physician Extender) at R.J. Blackley Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Center (RJB) in Butner, NC. RJB is one of three inpatient centers for treatment of co-occurring substance use disorders in conjunction with other mental and medical illnesses. RJB is accredited by the Joint Commission and Certified by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as an inpatient psychiatric hospital.

Our location is ideal with four seasons, mild temperatures, and provides an easy commute to the N.C. mountains or beaches. Butner possesses small town charm but is within 30 minutes of a major metropolitan area including Research Triangle Park, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, and Durham, NC.

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for assessing the psychiatric condition of the patient. Duties include the development, implementation and follow-up monitoring of the psychiatric treatment plan which includes appropriate discharge planning. Position participates in treatment team and care planning in an inpatient setting. Completes timely and appropriate documentation of treatment services. The PNP works closely with Psychiatrists and other multi-disciplinary treatment staff on ensuring the overall quality patient care.

This position is eligible for the State benefits package including health insurance, retirement, paid sick, vacation, holidays, longevity pay, etc. Flexibility is required to meet patient needs. Annual salary is determined based on equity, budget, and other salary administration considerations. This position is considered mandatory to hospital operations and subject to the adverse weather policy which will be discussed during the interview process.

NOTE: All employees must receive an annual seasonal Influenza vaccination or obtain an exemption prior to start date. All employees must successfully complete and maintain NCVI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) certification upon hire.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES / COMPETENCIES:
Qualified applicants must exhibit and application clearly reflect work experience that demonstrates the following:

Ability to perform bio/psycho/social psychiatric assessments, evaluations and psychotropic medication management for adults, preferably in an inpatient setting.
Ability to provide sound clinical judgment.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and their families, clinical and non-clinical staff, etc.
Ability to compile clear and concise notes for patient's charts and maintain appropriate clinical documentation.
Ability to assess and interpret laboratory results, clinical data and information relative to the patient's condition.
Excellent communication skills that demonstrate ability to respond to patients in a prompt, respectful, caring and compassionate manner.
License to practice must be current and unrestricted.

Management prefers experience with Joint Commission and CMS.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Licensed as a Physician Assistant by the North Carolina Medical Board or approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner by the North Carolina Board of Nursing and the North Carolina Medical Board.
