DESCRIPTION OF WORK:



The Psychiatrist will provide inpatient psychiatric care for patients at R.J. Blackley ADATC. Job responsibilities include:

* Consultations with medical staff as needed.

* Preparing written psychiatric assessments including treatment plans as well as administrative recommendations.

* Chronic medication management.

* Psychotropic drug reviews.

* Providing appropriate coordination and continuation of the care for residents in adherence to state and federal guidelines concerning the care of residents in a skilled nursing facility.

The normal work hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. including on-call; however, flexible work schedule will be considered. This position is mandatory to the Adverse Weather Policy which will be discussed during the interview process.

Blackley ADATC (RJB) is located in Butner and serves the central region of the state and is one of three state-operated alcohol and drug abuse treatment centers specially designed to treat adults with addictions and/or co-occurring disorders. Our location is ideal with four seasons, mild temperatures ad provides an easy commute to the N.C. mountains or beaches. Butner possesses small town charm but is within 30 minutes of a major metropolitan area including Research Triangle Park, Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES / COMPETENCIES:

* Professional experience leading and collaborating on an interdisciplinary team to provide integrated, comprehensive patient care is essential.

* Graduation from an accredited medical school and completion of psychiatry residency (or anticipated completion before job commencement).

* Professional knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to adult patients, as credentialed by the Medical Staff.

* Must be able to successfully maintain CPR and NVCI certification.

Management prefers:
Experience in inpatient setting with medical management of detoxification and professional knowledge of substance abuse disorder, treatment and recovery models and strategies.
Professional knowledge of Methadone and Buprenorphine.
Board certification
Demonstrated ability to supervise and guide work performance of psychiatric residents and fellows.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Licensed to practice medicine in the State of North Carolina.
