Full Time ~ Physician Assistant

We are seeking a FT Surgical PA to join our multidisciplinary team of PA's in the Dept. of Surgery. Clinical responsibility is to provide assistants to our Surgeons with the clinical care and treatment of patients covering vascular, plastics, hand, ENT, bariatrics and urology. You will benefit from quality-driven initiatives within a physician led organization and work within a system dedicated to improving care.

JOB SUMMARY:
Sub Specialty Physician Assistants will be part of a department with responsibilities that include:
Technical responsibility of displaying professional competency in the OR.
Performs and assists with bedside procedures as appropriate within the delineation of privileges.
Identifies and provides for the teaching of patients, families and other health care providers.
With the supervision of a Physician performs complete histories and physicals on patients of all ages to establish and record patients current health status and to develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan to provide continuing medical care, including daily examinations, writing orders, chart notes, discharging patients and completing discharge summaries.
Performs various duties to assist surgeon during surgeries.
Implement therapeutic intervention for specific conditions when appropriate.
Exercise judgment on problems requiring consultation, referral, or evaluation by the supervising surgeon or other health care professionals.
Order, collect and perform appropriate laboratory or diagnostic procedures, and studies including but not limited to blood and tissue specimens.
Ordering or performing diagnostic studies such as, but not limited to electrocardiogram, compartment pressure measurements, and x-ray examinations including special x-ray examinations CT, MRI, and bone scans, etc.
Participation in achieving the highest level of patient care and quality necessary looking for active role in billing and patient care initiatives
JOB OVERVIEW:
40 Hours Monday Friday 30-40 % OR time

Qualifications

Required Credential(s):
Licensed Physician Assistant credentialed from the Connecticut Department of Public Health obtained prior to hire date.
BLS & ACLS Required
One or more of the following:
o Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA)/American Red Cross obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
Experience preferred
