Job Description

This position is located at the Albuquerque Indian Health Center (AIHC) in Albuquerque, NM and reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The incumbent serves as the Clinical Director and a Medical Officer (Family Practice) for an ambulatory health care facility. The Clinical Director functions as a full member of the Service Unit's top management group and as a member of the Service Unit Governing Board. Exercises full, second line managerial responsibility for planning, development, organization, integration, administration, and evaluation of the clinical services as well as responsible for the administration of Clinical Services and quality safe medical care rendered.

Works on a day-to-day basis with the Chief Executive Officer, Administrative Officer, Director of Nursing, and other key staff members with responsibility for fully participating in top management discussion, decisions, and policy making and sharing accountability in management actions.
Assigns and reviews work, approves and disapproves leave, receives and resolves complaints, and develops and evaluates performance standards of subordinates.
Discusses relevant health care issues to staff, tribal members, health board, and tribal leaders.
Provides comprehensive, therapeutic, and preventative health services to pediatric, geriatric, adolescent, and adult patients.
Works collaboratively with co-physician providers and outside consultants on more complex cases or cases requiring specialty care or contract health services.
