The Chair will also be a prudent steward of the Department and MetroHealth, guiding it through the inevitable changes in the healthcare and social environment.
The Chair will be viewed by all stakeholders as a strong advocate for balancing the academic, educational, and clinical missions within the Department, and to be a willing collaborator with colleagues outside of the Department. The Chair will promote a culture of institutional stewardship and transparency, including commitment to improved clinical operations, efficient and effective use of space, and a willingness to re-align resources with evolving institutional strategies.
The Chair will drive innovative strategy to launch the Department of Internal Medicine-Pediatrics into the 21st Century as MetroHealth reimagines and rebuilds its main hospital campus over the next few years. The successful candidate for the Chair position will have an appreciation of population health, health equity, and reducing health disparities through understanding of root causes, mechanisms and interventions, and a desire to apply these insights to improve the delivery of care, including development of the required primary care base. Important research work conducted at MetroHealth by the Department of Internal Medicine-Pediatrics faculty and staff includes population health science, health care disparities, and related ideas like population health management, population medicine, public health and community health.
This is an unparalleled opportunity for an innovative executive with a desire to lead a prestigious clinical, education, and research enterprise, and serve as an integral leader of MetroHealth during this moment of transformative change across the healthcare industry. The new leader will be part of a mission-driven system that educates health professionals and scientists and provides leading-edge patient care, community service and research with global impact.
Above all, this individual will help the MetroHealth adapt and thrive in an evolving healthcare industry, and will inspire the organization to deliver on its vision of being the most admired public system in the nation, renowned for innovation, outcomes, service and financial strength.
Qualified applicants should hold an MD or MD/PhD, and must be board certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. This position will be proposed for a faculty appointment with CWRU School of Medicine, Department of Medicine with secondary appointment in Department of Pediatrics. Compensation and Tenure will be commensurate with experience and achievement.
