Job Description

The Kansas City VA Medical Center is seeking a full-time board certified or board eligible Psychiatrist.

Starting Salary over $240k/year
RECRUITMENT INCENTIVE OVER $24k/YEAR MAY BE AUTHORIZED
Relocation Incentive may be authorized

Perform psychiatric evaluations for diverse population including geriatric and post deployment combat Veterans who are mentally ill and have psychosocial issues such as homelessness, unemployment, and/or poor family support network
Provide a full range of therapeutic interventions including diagnostic assessment, medication evaluation and management, suicide risk assessments, crisis intervention, and overall care of patients with psychiatric disorders
Order diagnostic tests and consultations and discriminates between normal and abnormal findings to make appropriate treatment decisions
Ensure practice of psychiatric medicine is consistent with TJC, CARF, HIPPA, VA policies and procedures, clinical practice guidelines, national statutes and regulations, medical record documentation, and continuing education requirements
May serve as a team leader with responsibilities for coordinating consults of specialty clinic referrals
Participate in team meetings and treatment planning conferences; collaborates with multidisciplinary team members that enhances coordination of comprehensive patient care.
May participate in supervision and teaching in support of the psychiatric residency program and performs other directly related duties as assigned

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; rotating on call coverage including weekends and holidays
