Mental Health Social Worker

Job Description

This bachelor level social work position involves the case management and coordination of referrals for admissions to Hawthorn Center. It involves screening and reviewing referrals for admission, working with Community Mental Health Boards, community agencies, and parents/guardians in scheduling the access to the inpatient services. This involves pre-screening information, contact with the admitting psychiatrist, interviewing the client, completing legal documents, gathering information also to be used by the Reimbursement Department, providing and coordinating the schedule of treatment team meetings and providing crisis and emotional support regarding the initial process.

Please note this position is a non-LMSW licensure position.

Required Education and Experience
Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in social work or possession of a bachelor's degree in social services, social psychology, or sociology with a concentration in social work. Bachelor's degree in social work, preferred.

Experience
Mental Health Social Worker 9
No specific type or amount is required.

Mental Health Social Worker 10
One year of professional experience providing case coordination services equivalent to a Mental Health Social Worker 9.

Mental Health Social Worker P11
Two years of professional experience providing case coordination services equivalent to a Mental Health Social Worker, including one year equivalent to a Mental Health Social
Worker 10.

Eligibility for license by the Michigan Board of Examiners of Social Workers as a
social work technician, or as a social worker is required at the time of appointment.
