Neuro-oncology Physician

Job Description

The Divisions of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Hematology Oncology at Lahey Hospital Medical Center, a member of Lahey Health, are seeking a BC/BE neuro-oncologist. The neuro-oncologist will be involved along with other members of the neuro-oncology team (2 neurosurgeons, dedicated advanced practitioner, radiation oncologist, neuro-pathologist, and neuroradiologist) in the clinical neuro-oncology program at LHMC. The neuro-oncology program includes a busy multi-disciplinary clinic that treats patient with brain and spinal cord neoplasms. It has an active clinical research program and the neuro oncologist will play an important role in this as well as in the teaching of medical students, residents and fellows.

Lahey Hospital and Medical Center is an academic affiliate of Tufts University Medical School.

The Neurology Division consists of 24 physicians, 2 PhDs, 4 APCs, and is an integral part of the Tufts neurology residency.

The Neurosurgery Division consists of 7 full time specialists of which 3 are focused upon cranial disorders. We have expertise in skull base, cerebrovascular surgery, functional neurosurgery, and stereotactic radiosurgery. There are multiple externally funded research efforts underway. We have recently completed a multi-center carotid revascularization cognitive outcomes study. In addition, Dr. Carlos David, our skull base/vascular surgeon is the principal investigator for a global bypass registry. We have 2 neurosurgery residents and one fellow on service.

The Hematology Oncology division consists of 17 physicians and 9 advanced practitioners. Providers have disease-specific expertise in the full range of neoplastic diseases including a FACT certified autologous stem cell program In addition, the division is actively engaged in many clinical and translational research projects. Lahey is a main member of the NCI supported SWOG and NRG national research groups.

Lahey recently opened a new leading edge 43 bed Emergency Department and is a Level II Trauma Center. Located just north of Boston the area provides excellent school systems, abundant cultural activities in a world class city and convenient access to the mountains and seacoast throughout New England
