Job Description

Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, in Burlington, Massachusetts, a member of BI Lahey Health (BILH), is seeking a Chair to direct its Division of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. Applicants should be board certified in Thoracic Surgery and have a background warranting appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.

Candidates should have an established national record of achievement in CT surgery and exceptional interpersonal skills. They are expected to have a shared vision that will allow them to lead, grow and continue to expand the delivery of excellent cardiac and thoracic surgery services throughout the Lahey footprint.

The responsibilities of the Chair include the direction and administration of the professional, education and research components of the Division. The Chair is responsible for physician and advanced practitioner recruitment and professional development, achieving departmental quality, financial, and patient satisfaction goals, research, and developing new initiatives, effectively managing resource allocation within the department and optimizing divisional operations. The division consists of 4 board-certified cardiac surgeons, 3 board-certified thoracic surgeons and 10 advanced practitioners. The transcatheter aortic valve program is one of the busiest in New England. The thoracic program is a leader in robotic procedures both locally and regionally and trains cardiothoracic fellows from Tufts University School of Medicine.

The Lahey Health integrated delivery system consists of over 1,200 clinicians providing care throughout Lahey Healths network of acute care hospitals, ambulatory centers, physician practice sites, behavioral health facilities, long-term care facilities, home health organizations, and care management programs.
