Job Description
As one of the nations leading pediatric health care systems, Nemours is committed to providing all children with their best chance to grow up healthy. We offer integrated, family-centered care to more than 300,000 children each year in our pediatric hospitals, specialty clinics and primary care practices in Delaware, Florida, Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Nemours strives to ensure a healthier tomorrow for all children even those who may never enter our doors through our world-changing research, education and advocacy efforts. At Nemours, our Associates help us deliver on the promise we make to every family we have the privilege of serving: to treat their child as if they were our own.
Equity, diversity, and inclusion guide our growth and strategy. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about, and committed to leading efforts to provide culturally relevant care, reducing health disparities, and helping build a diverse and inclusive team environment. All Nemours associates are expected to ensure that these philosophies are embedded in their day to day work with colleagues, patients and families.
The Nemours Childrens Health System is seeking an enterprise-level Director of Pediatric Radiology Research to join the faculty at the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE. Qualified candidates must have a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree, be American Board of Radiology certified or eligible, and have completed an ACGME-approved fellowship in Pediatric Radiology. The candidate will receive academic appointment at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University (Philadelphia, PA) commensurate with qualifications and experience.
As one of the nations premier pediatric health care systems, Nemours provides world-class clinical care in four states - Delaware, Florida, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Nemours is recognized for its leadership in the areas of prevention, quality and safety, family-centered care, continuous improvement and informatics. Nemours Radiology is one of the largest pediatric radiology groups in the United States, currently comprised of 38 pediatric radiologists working collaboratively to provide full-service diagnostic and interventional radiology services at the Alfred I.duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington DE, Nemours Childrens Hospital in Orlando FL, Nemours Childrens Clinics in Jacksonville and Pensacola FL, Wolfson Childrens Hospital in Jacksonville FL and multiple satellite facilities. Faculty are licensed in all four states and credentialed throughout the system as well as partner institutions.
Nemours Radiology is integrated within a single PACS, with faculty working from common worklists, participating in multi-site conferences and initiatives, and sharing after-hours responsibilities including a dedicated team of three overnight radiologists. In 2019, well over 300,000 imaging examinations were performed throughout the system. Our enterprise model has resulted in improved report turn-around times, greater sub-specialization, development of multiple partner relationships, and dramatic increase in academic productivity.
The new system-wide role of Director of Pediatric Radiology Research will be a member of the Radiology Department leadership team and is being developed to enhance our academic pre-eminence as Nemours continues to ascend on the national stage. This position will have dedicated funding and protected academic time, as well as access to the full research support system at Nemours. Within the Department, this individual will be supported by a senior research coordinator with long track record of successful individual and departmental scholarship.
The candidate will mentor junior faculty investigators and trainees, foster inter-departmental, inter-campus, and multi-institutional research collaboration, manage research projects, identify funding opportunities, and provide oversight to established research team members. Complementing protected academic time, the candidate will also be expected to participate in clinical pediatric radiology duties.
