Job Description
Eastern State Hospital, in Medical Lake, WA, is hiring doctoral-level Senior Psychologists to join a highly dedicated team in our mission to Transform Lives. You will work closely with our Forensic Evaluators, courts, social workers, and medical team. Eastern State Hospital is a fully accredited, psychiatric inpatient, state-owned hospital located near Spokane.
Some of the things you will do
Provide individual and group psychotherapy to support patients treatment goals designed to empower patients, instill hope, support, self-discovery and independence; approximate caseload of 30 patients
Consult with patient treatment teams
Complete psycho-diagnostic assessments along with supporting clinical documentation
Provide in-service training and clinical supervision of Psychology Associates
Provide expert testimony to the court
We plan to hire three Psychologist 4s, assigned to specialized areas based on clinical experience:
Role #1: This ESH Psychologist will provide direct clinical service to people adjudicated Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity. You will have a lead role in advising the Treatment Team regarding a persons appropriateness for privileges and liberties within the scope of applicable forensic policies. You will advise and document a patients level of public risk and develop clinical targets for the patient to meet in order to progress in treatment to the point where they can be safely discharged into the community. In addition, you will work closely with the hospitals Quality Assurance program and NGRI Ombudsman to review the NGRI program and make improvement recommendations
Role #2: This ESH Psychologist will be assigned to the Geropsychiatric Unit providing specialized care to our geriatric patients. In addition, you will provide forensic evaluations to people assigned by the Involuntary Treatment Act. We will look to you to conduct neuropsychological evaluations, collaborate with the Habilitative Mental Health Treatment Ward Psychologist, and advise the GPU Administrative Director on matters pertinent to the overall treatment milieu.
Role #3: This ESH Psychologist will be assigned to the Forensic Services Unit, Competency Restoration Program. You will provide services to people who are being evaluated or treated for competency to stand trial. As a vital consultant to the Treatment Team, you will serve to help monitor, evaluate, and revise the CR Program in collaboration with the Behavioral Health leadership. This program may be audited to ensure compliance and adherence to the established CR Program curriculum and this will fall under your responsibility.

A Doctor of Psychology (Ph.D./Psy.D.) in clinical or forensic psychology from an accredited university;
Licensed or eligible to obtain a license in Washington to practice psychology by hire date; and
Experience with forensic populations and/or people with severe behavioral health issues or specialized training in working with geriatric patients and conducting neuropsychiatric assessments.
