Nemours is seeking an Occupational Therapist (Therapeutic Rehab Services), FULL-TIME, for our Nemours Children's Hospital team in Orlando, Florida.

Located in Orlando, Fla., Nemours Childrens Hospital is the newest addition to the Nemours integrated healthcare system. Our 100-bed pediatric hospital also features the areas only 24-hour Emergency Department designed just for kids as well as outpatient pediatric clinics including several specialties previously unavailable in the region. A hospital designed by families for families, Nemours Childrens Hospital blends the healing power of nature with the latest in healthcare innovation to deliver world-class care to the children of Central Florida and beyond. In keeping with our goal of bringing Nemours care into the communities we serve, we also provide specialty outpatient care in several clinics located throughout the region.

Provides Occupational Therapy evaluation, treatment, and consultation independently to typical patients within a program, under the prescription of a physician and within the guidelines designated by departmental and hospital policies and procedures. Expands knowledge of less common populations seen within the program through mentorship and educational opportunities. Previous experience and/or strong interest in Feeding preferred.

This position requiresSaturdays and evening hours to meet the needs of our patients and families.

Direct Patient Care Responsibilities
- Demonstrates proficiency in the care of all ages: pediatrics, adolescents, and adults; completes at least 75% of Level I OT competencies.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the care of neonates as required by assignment.
- Evaluates patients for physical therapy treatment including positioning, adaptive equipment, home programs, home accessibility, etc. Independently provides and coordinates age appropriate physical therapy treatment plans, treatment and consultation in typical patient care situations.
- Consults with other services, families, and outside agencies to recommend equipment, home or school modifications, transition of care, etc.
- Assists in coordinating outside agencies to recommend durable medical equipment, home/school modifications and transitional therapy program prior to discharge from therapy/hospital.
- Completes timely documentation as required by departmental policy #4.7, The Joint Commission, and CARF standards.
- Attends meetings related to patient treatment and contributes to discussion as an interdisciplinary team member.
- Maintains knowledge of insurance referral/authorization process and documentation requirements related to therapy services.
- Provides inservice training programs and follows specific protocols/pathways for direct patient care issues as mandated by hospital specialty programs.


Indirect Patient Care Responsibilities
- Staff development: Assesses existing and develops new activities that promote general knowledge and professionalism within the department; participates in peer review process; attends inservices/continuing education and provides updates in the form of inservices to associates.
- CQI: Participates in program, discipline, specialty, and hospital-wide CQI projects.
- Assessment and Treatment: Contributes to discipline and program committees to enhance patient care; assists in assessing current procedures and in developing methods of improvement related to patient care.
- Program Development: Participates in activities to increase program use, awareness, and marketing; participates in meeting goals of the department. Attends monthly program meetings.
- Clinical Education: Assists in mentoring affiliating occupational therapy students, new occupational therapy staff, support personnel, and volunteers. Participates in student and volunteer program organization.
- Teamwork: Participates in a single discipline, multi-disciplinary, or specialty team.
- Professional Development: Develops ties with professional organizations. Provides educational inservices and experiences to the discipline/program/community; attends occupational therapy meetings as scheduled in the hospital; may participate in promotional activities for occupational therapy and/or in hospital.
- Weekend Rehab Rotation: Checks crash cart per hospital policy.


Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required. Master's degree preferred.
- Florida State License to practice Occupational Therapy required.
- Prior pediatric experience preferred.
- NBCOT certification preferred.
- BLS/CPR certification (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) within 6 months of employment.
- Member of professional specialty organizations (AOTA, Florida OT Association), preferred.
- Work schedule will include Saturdays and evening hours.
