Job Description

We have career opportunities for Certified Nursing Assistants at Yakima Valley School (YVS). YVS is a state-run skilled nursing facility for adult residents with developmental and intellectual disabilities located in Central Washington, in Selah. You'll interact with clients in a residential living atmosphere, provide care, and engage in therapeutic activities on and off-campus. You'll partner with residents and their family members, providing choices in all areas of their lives.

Some of what you'll do:

Provide direct care and active engagement to our residents to maximize their independent living skills.
Teach and assist residents with personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, meal preparation, leisure skills, community awareness, safety skills, and routine household responsibilities depending on the level of assistance needed.
Assist with activities of daily living, physical, social, and habilitative skill development while providing choices for self-determination to the best of the residents abilities.
Take residents to and from various recreation activities and community appointments.
Provide personal care for both genders.
Use your skills to provide safe, protective interventions in the presence of challenging behaviors.

Professionals with the following should apply:
A High School Diploma or GED or one year of experience working with people with Intellectual Disabilities
Current Nursing Assistant Certification (NAC) for the state of Washington or certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant from another state

Including a copy of your diploma or GED along with a certificate of completion from an approved nursing assistant program can speed up the hiring process.
