DSHS Therapy Aide

Come join our wonderful team at Fircrest Residential Habilitation Center (RHC) in Shoreline, WA. As a Therapy Aide, you will work under a certified Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapist, assisting in designing and implementing sub-programs and/or screening residents within a given therapy program for intellectual disabilities. Some of what you'll do:


Provide training and habilitative services to those with developmental disabilities including range of motion and mobility
Insure that each client has the opportunity to reach their maximum potential of well being
Participate with join therapeutic programs
Remediate or rehabilitate physical abilities for clients living in an Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) or Skill Nursing Facility (SNF)
Assist with Activities of Daily Living to maintain and improve skills
Apply upper and lower extremity splints
Assist with transferring/moving clients
Transport clients to appointments, activities, etc.
Maintain accurate data per client program implementation and progress
Monitor and repair adaptive equipment including wheelchair

What we're looking for:
Ability to learn a variety of activities which are part of a planned program
Patience, tolerance, and respectfulness are key in being successful
Ability to work in a team environment
Excellent communication skills
Ability to operate equipment and tools used in therapy programs
Demonstrated understanding of Therapeutic Options training

Who should apply?
Professionals with two years of experience in an occupational or physical therapy program under the supervision of a certified therapist
OR
Completion of an Occupational Therapy Assistant Training program approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association
OR
Completion of Physical Therapy training program approved by the Physical Therapy Association
OR
A bachelor's degree with major study in Speech Pathology or Communicative Disorders
