Mariposa County includes Yosemite Valley, where the world famous Yosemite National Park is located, along with other lake and boating areas, and miles of scenic trails. The county lies at the southern end of the Mother Lode and was a hub of the California Gold Rush (in the mid 1800s). The history, natural wonders and recreational activities available make the area a popular year round tourist destination.
Rural, but not Remote:
Our beautiful community, nestled in the foothills is not really remote. In fact, metropolitan areas offering shopping, amenities, and other activities are relatively nearby. The distance to nearby cities is: 37 miles to Merced, 72 miles to Fresno, and 150 miles to San Francisco, 300 miles to Los Angeles, large metropolitan cities.
Living in Mariposa:

Home rentals range from $800-$1,700 per month and home sale prices from 250k-800k (typically depending upon the amount of land). Mariposa has 10 local churches and a highly praised local school district.
Mariposa is a vibrant rural community ideal for a candidate and or family who love the outdoors and enjoy seasonal activities. Please visit the Mariposa Chamber of Commerce and the Yosemite/Mariposa Tourism Bureau for great pictures and additional information about our great community. Visit Mariposa Unified School District to learn about our local schools.
