The Chief Physician Psychiatry position will serve as the lead of the team treating inmate patients in High- and Moderate-Observation Mental Health Housing areas. This position will provide oversight and support to the patient psychiatric services and ensure patients receive the most effective and high quality services. The Chief Physician Psychiatry will ensure patients are provided timely psychiatric evaluations, medication management, crisis intervention, and on-going assessment when at risk of suicide. Supervise and oversee clinical and admin personnel, budget allocations, patient treatment quality improvement, and the overall performance of the unit. Work with DHS Correctional Health Services Chief Medical Officer to ensure the unit functions in accordance with all Los Angeles County regulations and general medical standards. Functions as a member of a multi-disciplinary team; consult with other clinicians regarding inmate care issues and management of problematic inmates; assist with the training of psychiatric fellows and work with LA Sheriff Department Staff.

SPECIAL SALARY INFORMATION:
Additional Compensation Bonus:
5.5% for assignment in a Sheriffs County Jail mental health facility
5.5% for AMA Board Certification in Psychiatry

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS:
Completion* of a residency approved by the American Specialty Board designated in one or more designated specialties

LICENSE:
California State Physician and Surgeons Certificate authorized by the Board of Medical Examiners of the State of California.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION:
The required license and/or certificate MUST be current and unrestricted; conditional, provisional, probationary or restricted licenses and/or certificates will NOT be accepted.

The Twin Towers Correctional Facility is located in Downtown, Los Angeles. It consists of two towers, a medical services building, and the LA County Medical Center Jail Ward. The facility opened in 1997.
