Job Description
LAC+USC Medical Center is the cornerstone of the safety net for the largest county in the United States. As one of the largest public hospitals in the US, we are the busiest Level 1 trauma center, and one of only 3 Burn units, in Los Angeles County. We are home to one of the largest GME training centers in the US, with 950 residents and fellows, representing nearly 1% of all post graduate trainees in the US. We also serve as the primary teaching hospital for the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine. Our mission is to provide fully integrated, accessible, affordable and culturally sensitive care, one person at a time.
LAC+USC Medical Center is seeking a qualified primary care geriatrician (FM or IM preferred). The primary care geriatrician at LAC+USC Medical Center has two responsibilities. First, this physician is responsible for direct and supervisory patient care to empaneled patients in the Geriatric Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH). Second, this physician is responsible for working in collaboration with Geriatrics clinic leadership and Adult Protection Team members to manage, execute and complete responsibilities outlined in the Los Angeles County Workforce Development, Aging, and Community Services Adult Protective Services (WDACS/APS) and Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) memorandum of understanding.
In this capacity, physician reports directly (solid line) to the Geriatrics PCMH Medical Director and functionally (dotted or dashed line) to the Violence Intervention Program Medical Director. Prior experience in elder abuse or violence prevention is preferred but not required.
LAC+USC Medical Center is a 600 bed hospital that includes a Level-One trauma center and serves over 10 million residents. It is a county affiliated teaching hospital that is in affiliation with the University of Southern California (USC) Medical School in 1885 and has over 900 physicians in their Graduate Medical Education program.
The hospital is in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles. It has over 100,000 residents and has a majority Latino population. It is located east of the Los Angeles River and its neighboring communities include Lincoln Heights, Chinatown, Commerce and Downtown Los Angeles.
