Job Description
Reporting to the Senior Physician, provider functions as an integral member of the Correctional Health Services (CHS) treatment team. To be considered for this position, providers must hold a current AAHIVS certification and have sufficient experience in providing HIV primary care. Preference for providers who have completed fellowship training in Infectious Diseases or HIV Primary Care. The HIV specialist is responsible for direct client care to persons living with HIV/AIDS and will also provide HIV prevention care (PrEP/PEP), general LGBTQ health care including gender affirming care, and Hepatitis C care and treatment. They may also provide general primary care.
Essential Job Functions
Provide direct patient care to individuals including performing physical examinations, identifying findings/diagnosis, and instituting management and/or treatment plans.
Elicits and/or reviews client histories in accordance with standards.
Orders necessary laboratory procedures in accordance with standard of care
Provides information and education related to client care and treatment.
Scope of services to include care for people living with HIV/AIDS or at risk for HIV (PrEP/PEP), Hepatitis C, gender-affirming therapy, and general primary care services.
Ensure medical care and documentation are in compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, regulation, and accreditation standards.
Comply with licensing and accreditation standards and other regulatory requirements. Interpret and support standards and requirements to others, and complete other assignments, as assigned.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Completion of an Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Med/Peds residency approved by an American Specialty Board/Board Certified; current HIV Specialist certification through AAHIVM; preference for providers who have completed fellowship training in Infectious Disease or HIV Primary care.
LICENSE:
California State Physician and Surgeons Certificate authorized by the Board of Medical Examiners of the State of California:
ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION BONUS:
5.5% for assignment in a Sheriffs County Jail
5.5% for AMA Board Certification
