40 Hours wkly in Eastern North Carolina - Unique Opportunity! 8 -5 Mon - Friday

Cherry Hospital, an acute in-patient psychiatric facility, is currently recruiting qualified candidates for a position as Staff Physician for the Medical Services Department. The Medical Services Department provides quality medical care including acute, chronic and emergency care, to psychiatric in-patients in a safe, therapeutic and non-restricted environment.

Cherry Hospital (CH) is a State-of-the-Art psychiatric hospital located in a beautiful rural area of Goldsboro, NC. Although rural, Cherry Hospital is convenient to the Triangle Area (Raleigh/Durham) and the coastal region of the state. It is about an hour's drive to the heart of Raleigh or the beautiful coastal town of New Bern.

This Physician will be responsible for providing medical care to all assigned patients and to also function as a supervising physician to multiple physician extenders (Advanced Practice Practitioners) as well as:

Providing medical services for patients admitted to Cherry Hospital
Continually review, modify and document patient care based on personal attendance of patients and discussion with Advanced Practice Practitioners and consulting providers when appropriate
Document appropriate diagnostic, therapeutic, and patient education care plans
Provide thorough aftercare medical discharge instructions
Respond to and manage emergency medical conditions at ACLS level of care including arranging transfers to outside hospitals as indicated
Collaborate effectively with treatment teams to exchange medically significant information
While supervising Advanced Practice Practitioners (as applicable), the physician will review all laboratory results, diagnostic studies, consultations and other clinical data and order appropriate treatments or studies as indicated
The physician is required to take rotating call from home as the remote back-up to the in-house physician extender (Advanced Practice Practitioner)

Other duties include attending regularly schedule CME programs provided by the hospital, monthly Medical Staff meetings, daily reports and daily morning report meetings. Position will take rotating call from home (remote back-up to the in-house physician extender).

This is a permanent full-time position and eligible or the full State of NC benefits package including health insurance and retirement. The normal working hours are Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm. This position is designated as Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and emergency medical care

Thorough knowledge of the theory, principles, and practices of general, preventive medicine and of the techniques involved

Ability to compile clear and concise noes for patients charts and to make oral presentations of cases
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Licensed to practice medicine in the state of North Carolina.

Degrees must be from an appropriately accredited college or university.
