Hiring for BOTH Part time (Reserves) and Full time (Active duty)
Job Description:
As a General Surgeon and Officer in the Navy Medical Corps, you will help lead the highly respected Navy healthcare team as you provide high-quality medical care for Sailors, Marines, service members, their families and, when called upon, humanity at large. You will handle everything a typical physician does, from diagnosing ailments, to treating injuries and saving lives.
As a full-time or part-time General Surgeon with the Navy youll:
Have opportunity to bring adventure into your practice
Gain surgical experience and pioneer new treatments
Access the most advanced medical technology and resources to practice medicine
Work at the best military medical facilities on shore, at sea and in the field
Collaborate with top health-care professionals on the highly valued Navy healthcare team
Partner with International Relief Teams and organizations, such as FEMA, USAID and Project Hope
Operate as a leader within your focus area and get exposure outside your specialty
Potentially exercise command of medical units and/or perform special staff functions for commanders at all levels
Financial / Educational Incentives:
Navy healthcare offers the ability to focus on the finer points of medicine without the financial and business complications of a private practice. Start-up costs, malpractice insurance, staffing, equipment and office management dont exist for Navy physicians.
For part-time Reserve surgeons, our Training in Medical Specialty program is designed to provide financial and other incentives for medical professionals while in select residency and fellowship programs.
The Financial Assistance Program (FAP) scholarship program is designed to provide General Surgery residents additional financial supplementation while they are in residency. Upon completing residency, candidates will be commissioned as an active duty (Full-Time) medical officer (General Surgeon) in the Navy. The Financial Assistance Program (FAP) scholarship is for General Surgery residents PGY2-PGY5.

14-day Annual Training (AT) opportunity to do clinical clerkships with Navy providers or conduct research and do operational medicine clerkships.
Opportunity to advance in pay grade while in Residency.
Opportunity to focus on Residency without the worry of being pulled early into the military for any reason.
Requirements:
Must be a U.S. citizen, currently practicing (licensed & board certified/eligible), and meet our physical, legal, security screening and credential requirements.
Active Duty candidates must be commissioned by age 55. Reserve candidates must be commissioned by age 65.
