Job Description
Heart Failure Cardiologist
The Heart Failure (HF) Section in the Division of Cardiology at The MetroHealth Medical Center is seeking a board-certified/board eligible Heart Failure Cardiologist to join a growing team of HF providers at the HF Care Center. This is an academic position with an academic faculty appointment at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) School of Medicine. In addition to clinical efforts, candidates will have protected time for teaching and research.
The HF care center (HFCC) at MetroHealth is run by a collaborative team of providers including HF-trained cardiologists, HF trained nurse practitioners, HF nurses, and clinical pharmacists. Together, the HF team provides inpatient, outpatient, and telemedicine care for a growing population of patients with HF and pulmonary hypertension in the Metrohealth System. Our HF team works closely with a larger team of general cardiologists, cardiovascular imaging specialists, cardiothoracic surgeons, and electrophysiologists at the Heart and Vascular Center. In addition, the HF team collaborates closely with the 2 heart transplantation centers in town to identify, evaluate, and co-manage patients who are candidates for advanced HF therapy. HFCC is in the process of receiving HF Disease Specific Certification through the Joint Commission (TJC) and establishing HF Shared Care program with the nearby heart transplant centers. The Pulmonary Hypertension Program is embedded in the HFCC and it provides care for a growing population with pulmonary arterial hypertension who are on oral and infusion therapies. The HFCC is an active participant in several multicenter randomized clinical trials. HFCC has been the recipient of multiple get-with-the-guidelines (GWTG) Gold-plus certification for implementing guideline-directed medical therapy for patients with HF.
MetroHealth is an academic institution that serves as a major teaching and research campus for Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) School of Medicine. The MetroHealth System is also an integrated health system serving a large and diverse population of Northeast Ohio, with an acute care hospital housing a Level I Trauma and Burn Center, a skilled nursing facility and more than 25 satellite locations throughout northeastern Ohio. The MetroHealth System is redesigning its campus with an innovative transformation plan to exceed the ever-changing needs of patients and programs for the community. This billion-dollar transformation is the largest public construction project in Cuyahoga County and one of the largest in the nation. By the end of 2022, the new hospital tower will be home to 270 private rooms with additional state-of-the art facilities, population health initiatives, as well as a re-imagined campus environment.
