Job Description

MercyOne Des Moines is seeking an experienced and energetic General Surgery Residency Faculty member looking to take the next step as Program Director.

The MercyOne General Surgery Residency Program, founded in 1932, and one of the oldest in the country is home to 20 residents (4 residents /year). To learn more, click here General Residency Program.

Clinical Practice Opportunities:

This position is a 0.5 FTE with the opportunity to practice in your specialty with Mercy Clinics. The Program Director will be eligible for an academic appointment at Des Moines University.

Responsibilities:

The Program Director has responsibility, authority and accountability for the operations of the General Surgery Residency. Duties include curriculum planning, faculty development,, simulation lab oversight and supervision of scholarly activity.

Requirements:

Board certification by theAmerican Board of Surgery or theAmerican Osteopathic Board of Surgery required. Ideal candidate will have five years of clinical experience in an academic setting. Must have a demonstrated interest in surgical education as well as knowledge of ACGME accreditation standards.
