The Department of Graduate Medical Education at Opelousas General Health System located in Opelousas, LA is recruiting for full-time faculty position to assist with launching a 16-20 FTE psychiatric residencyprogram. We value creating an educational experience that focuses on educating residents and medical students, while providing excellent patient care.

The Psychiatry ResidencyProgramDirector position is available to applicants with administrative and teaching experience and the desire for advancement. Competitive salary and benefits are commensurate with rank.

Responsibilities include leading an interdisciplinary general psychiatry adult inpatient teaching unit composed of residents, medical students, nurses, case managers, and support staff. TheProgramDirector position includes accountability for the operation for the trainingprogram, promoting a culture of excellence, resident recruitment, innovation in teaching, and resident evaluation. Other duties will be tailored to the interest of the applicant and include opportunities in adult and child outpatient, ECT, TMS, community outreach, and forensic psychiatry.

Position Summary

Provide patient care at hospital and outpatient facilities.Educational responsibilities include clinical and classroom teaching of residents and medical students within both outpatient and inpatient settings.

Duties & Responsibilities

-Supervision and teaching of psychiatry residents and medical students
-Direct patient care on inpatient units at our 30 Bed Inpatient Unit
-Directpatient care in our departmental outpatient clinic

Minimum Qualifications
-Graduate from an ACGME-approved psychiatry residency trainingprogram
-Licensed or license-eligible in the state of Louisiana
-ABPN board-certified in psychiatry

Preferred Qualifications
-Leadership experience in both teaching and non-teaching environments
-Experience in inpatient and outpatient psychiatry
-Experience in working collaboratively as a part of an interdisciplinary team
-Interest in providing high-quality education
-Interest in supporting resident scholarship
