Job Description

This Southeast Kansas Community Health Center is seeking an Internal Medicine-Pediatric Physician who believes everyone deserves quality healthcare and strives to improve lives and strengthen their communities. Physician responsibilities:

Be socially and culturally sensitive to communicate effectively with ethnically and economically diverse patient-and-employee base
Demonstrate a high level of customer service both internally and externally and in accordance with organizations mission
Provide complete, comprehensive outpatient care for patients including health examinations and treatment of medical conditions and follow up
Manage acute and chronic illness, routine care through care plans that are coordinated, and when appropriate, with the patients behavioral health provider
Make appropriate referrals to internal disciplines and/or external resources/agencies for additional services required
Oversee mid-level providers responsible for providing medical services, as assigned
Oversee medical students, as assigned
Qualifications:

Full licensure to practice medicine in the State of Kansas and/or Oklahoma
Graduation from an accredited school of medicine
Completion of residency in appropriate specialty
Board Certified in appropriate specialty
A strong community/public health orientation, preferred
Commitment to serving the underserved

Who we are:

This Southeast Kansas Community Health Center is an integrated health care center, offering a range of medical services including dental, behavioral health, pharmacy, walk-in care, addiction treatment and other areas. Additional services beyond healthcare include transportation, care coordination, help with insurance enrollment, and more.

We opened our doors in 1997 on the second floor of a 90-year-old elementary school building as a community outreach of Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center, the hospital Mother Mary Bernard Sheridan, a Sister of St. Joseph, founded in 1903. Her mission was to bring healthcare to the poorest in our region and she did so by building a hospital on donated land and providing care for all.

This southeast Kansas town is manufacturing community rich in history, friendly people, and voted one of the best downtowns in Kansas in 2021. This town has numerous recreational opportunities including an aquatic center, two 18-hole golf courses, and a new disc golf course.
