Job Description

Position Description

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is recruiting a pediatric hospital medicine physician to join our pediatric hospital medicine team in Lubbock, Texas. Our hospital medicine division is comprised of 11 pediatric hospital medicine physicians. Our division provides coverage for inpatient pediatric services at Covenant Children's Hospital, University Medical Center Childrens Hospital, and Trustpoint rehabilitation hospital. Our division acts as the primary admitting team for many of our pediatric subspecialists and participates in co-management with many of the surgical specialists at each of our hospital sites. We are currently growing a hospitalist-run sedation service at Covenant Childrens for children undoing procedures or sedated imaging.

Our division works closely with the TTUHSC medical school and pediatric residency program providing oversight on inpatient rotations, education in hospital medicine, and mentorship. We have a well-established, accredited PHM fellowship program with one fellow per year. We are committed to training students, residents, and fellows to be successful in their future careers and place a strong focus on education and evidence-based practices.

Faculty within the division serve in a variety of roles across the medical school and hospital systems including the freestanding childrens hospital CEO, leaders of the organized medical staff, assistant dean for undergraduate medical education, director of the fourth-year school of medicine curriculum, pediatrics clerkship director, and leaders in quality improvement and health information technology at our clinical sites.

Our group has a strong spirit of comradery. We work very nicely together and enjoy planned monthly get-togethers for the division outside of work as well. Our hospital systems provide collegial and collaborative work environments and supportive administrative culture. TTUHSC offers comprehensive health plans and other core insurances, retirement plans, ample sick and vacation leave time, and CME opportunities.

Rank of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor and applicable salary are dependent upon candidates qualifications and experience.
