About the Position
The Contracts Specialist will assist in the coordination, implementation and processing of certain provider contracts and letters of agreement. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for the maintenance and integrity of the contracting database including contract boilerplates, final agreements, amendments and other contracting related requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Participates in a mission driven culture of high-quality performance, with a member focus on customer service, consistency, dignity and accountability.
Assists the team in carrying out department responsibilities and collaborates with others to support short and long-term goals/priorities for the department.
Assists Contracts Managers in creating, coordinating and implementing contracts and amendments with providers.
Keeps manager and director abreast of issues and concerns.
Negotiates, coordinates and implements letters of agreements under the guidance and direction of the department manager.
Acts as a contracting liaison between providers and CalOptima Health and responds to provider questions and inquiries regarding contract language and rates in a timely manner.
Communicates with internal departments regarding provider contract obligations and rates.
Manages the electronic library of provider contracts for all CalOptima Health's lines of business.
Manages and updates provider's records in contract database.
Creates and enhances reports as needed for Contracts Managers.
Completes other projects and duties as assigned.
Experience & Education:
Associate's degree required.
2 years of experience in managed care contracting or provider relations required.
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position such as those listed above is also qualifying.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with a contract management system.
Experience with SharePoint or One Note

Physical Demands: While performing duties of the job, employee may be required to move about the organization. Employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time, as well as work at the computer for long periods. Employee is required to use hands and fingers, especially for typing on the computer and using the mouse. Must also be able to reach with hands and arms and must occasionally lift office supply boxes or laptop case, up to 25 pounds. Employee must be able to communicate, particularly for regular phone use, in meetings, face-to-face interaction and while presenting.
Work Environment: Typical office environment with minimal to moderate noise levels and controlled office temperatures.
