QMHP-SMT

The Corrections Qualified Mental Health Professional functions as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team providing a range of professional treatment services to mentally ill and/or mentally disabled prisoners within the Michigan Department of Corrections. They work with hospitalized, medically ill and other special populations. The Corrections Qualified Mental Health Professional is responsible for all aspects of the mental health evaluation, referral to the
appropriate mental health level of care and treatment of the prisoners, monitoring their progress and ensuring continuity of care is not jeopardized. The Corrections Qualified Mental Health Professional provides a full range of psychosocial assessments and evaluations, interventions, consultations and referral services as assigned by the supervisor. They assist with placement and obtaining services when the prisoner discharges to the community.

**This for 2 QMHP positions - one is for MSOP and one is for OPT.**
Required Education and Experience
Education
Possession of a master's degree with a major in psychology, social work, or counseling.

One year of professional experience providing QMHP services equivalent to a Corrections Qualified Mental Health Professional 9.

Corrections Qualified Mental Health Professional P11
Two years of professional experience providing QMHP services equivalent to a Corrections Qualified Mental Health Professional, including one year equivalent to a Corrections Qualified Mental Health Professional 10.

Possession of a Michigan license to practice the applicable Qualified Mental Health Profession, which is required to practice as a psychologist, social worker, counselor, registered nurse, or other QMHP.

Registered Nurse positions have various job responsibilities and functions within this agency. Depending on the assignment, the RN works in an Inpatient, Outpatient, or Residential Treatment Program in a correctional facility or as part of Corrections Mental Health Program. The employee may be hired for a specific area and assigned to any or all ambulatory or inpatient settings within the complex or facility.

Registered Nurse P11 ($23.73 - $31.35/hr) is an experienced-level nurses, performing a broad range of nursing duties. No specific experience is required.

Registered Nurse 12 ($25.56 - $33.64/hr) function as a senior worker or as emergency/clinic nursing services specialist. One year of experience as a RN is required; or, a master's or bachelor's degree in nursing and six months of experience as a RN.

Pyschiatrist

Job Description
The psychiatrist in Mental Health Services functions as the psychiatric leader on the unit under the supervision of the Unit Chief. Clinical consultation, when s/he has a need or when seeking approval for exceptions on medication, is available by designated psychiatric authority. This position provides the direct evaluation and treatment services to prisoners and clinical leadership and guidance under the authority of the Unit Chief in facilitating the work of other mental health treatment staff at the work site. This position provides evaluation and monitoring of the psychopharmacological services and assists the Unit Chief in the oversight and clinical supervision of assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of prisoners.
Required Education and Experience
Education
Possession of a medical degree from an accredited school of medicine.

Experience
Completion of a psychiatric residency program and one year of experience as a psychiatrist in a mental health, clinic, program, or correctional facility.

Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certifications
Possession of a license to practice medicine or osteopathic medicine and surgery in Michigan.

Certain positions may require that only individuals with specific education and experience qualifications be appointed.

Some positions require possession of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology "general requirements" for certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
