Physician-Wound Care Job Description Candidates must (1) hold a full and unrestricted license in the state where the company has a physician position opening; (2) have completed a residency in good standing, and (3) board eligible or certified preferred. This position will focus on wound care assessment and treatment primarily in long-term care settings such as SNFs, ALFs, Hospice or LTACs. Duties: The physician provides direct patient care in an inpatient residential setting – primarily to elderly patients and those with suspected or confirmed cognitive impairment and serves as a consultant to other physicians. The physician is or will become in relatively short order expert in history taking, physical examination, debridement and other minor surgical wound procedures, minor suturing, test interpretation, patient counseling and differential diagnosis, and medical therapeutics. The physician will have a level of expertise in wound care. Physicians who are surgeons, procedural, or who possess some form of wound care certification, and/or prior experience working in a wound care program would be ideal candidates. Our physicians will spend the majority of their time in direct patient care and will also have a degree of clinical supervision responsibilities for certain physician extenders such as Nurse Practitioners and/or Physician Assistants.
