5 ORs including Gen Surgery, Ortho, ENT,OB/GYN, with separate space for Cysto & ESWL, Opthamology, GI. Mostly supervision but occasionally may need to do own cases, and place labor epidurals. Anesthesiologists perform peripheral nerve blocks for major ortho as well as handle emergency intubations in the ICU. Healthy peds, occasional trauma, no hearts or neuro. Surgeons work well with anesthesia and respect our expertise. Middle of the night cases limited to true emergencies.
Call is 1:2 during the 12 days on, followed by 9 days off. First week of call is MWFSS. Second week is T Th. Leave Friday after your cases are finished. There is rare/minimal middle of the night work and we do work our post-call days as usual. Post-call is first out.
There is NO second call.
