Baptist Health Fort Smith (BHFS) is recruiting a Gastroenterologist. There is currently only one employed Gastroenterologist at BHFS and the recruitment need is growth related. The existing physician is well established having been in the practice for 12 years. He is very busy and well respected by patients. There is also a PA working in the practice who sees patients in the hospital as well as hospital follow up appointments. The clinic practice is located on the BHFS campus. This is an employed opportunity with flexibility in the arrangement. There is the potential to join the existing physician or to establish a new practice and share call with the existing physician. Due to the fact that BHFS has only one Gastroenterologist there is significant opportunity for another physician to quickly build a busy practice. Fort Smith is the second largest city in Arkansas with a population approaching 88,000 people. The city is located on the Arkansas River at the border of Arkansas and Oklahoma and has a rich history. There is much to do in the area for both visitors and residents. There is a diverse restaurant scene from Southern-styled foods and Cajun specialties to cuisine from around the world. For outdoor enthusiasts there are trails for biking, hiking, and running as well as lakes and rivers for fishing. The city’s location in the Arkansas River Valley and below the Ozark Mountains makes it a prime location to get out and explore Arkansas’ scenic beauty. Requirements All physician positions are for Board Certified or Board Eligible MDs or DOs. This opportunity does qualify for a J-1 visa waiver. All physicians must be able to obtain Arkansas licensure before they begin practicing.
