OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST JOB SUMMARY o Evaluate, interpret, plan and implement specific occupational therapy treatment programs for patients. The therapist is also responsible for providing all appropriate documentation and billing information. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations o Must be eligible for licensure in the State of Illinois. Education and/or Experience o Graduate of an OT approved school of occupational therapy. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT Physical Demands o The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and to hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use finger dexterity, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and perform other motoric activities. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment o The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to bloodborne pathogens and chemicals used to clean pediatric therapy equipment and treatment tables/mats. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. PRIMARY JOB DUTIES -Evaluate and manage dysfunction to enhance physical and functional abilities. -Perform evaluations that include interpreting physician referral, taking a patient history, conducting a systems review, and performing tests and measures to identify potential and existing problems as well as determining appropriateness for occupational therapy intervention. -Based on clinical judgment, treatment diagnoses, and prognoses, establish both individualized short- and long-term goals for an episode of care that meet the requirements of the referral and the needs of the patient. -Utilize interventions that are supported by evidence-based practice to be effective for achieving patient goals as established in the initial evaluation and educates patients/caregivers in proper activities and interventions at home and in the community that are tailored to the patient’s needs. -Modify interventions as necessary in an effort to promote efficient and effective treatment in order to achieve anticipated goals and expected outcomes. -Effectively manage a patient’s episode of care via appropriate utilization and clinical supervision of ancillary staff, effective communication with the referring provider, and providing efficient and effective interventions. -Attend required meetings and participates in committees as requested; participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations. -Timely Documentation of all patient interaction and occupational therapy services provided. -Maintains full and productive schedule. -Performs other duties as assigned.
