TTUHSC El Paso - Transmountain and The Hospitals of Providence Transmountain Campus (Tenet Healthcare) collaborated in an effort to address the health disparities of this region, by establishing a new set of clinical and educational programs. As part of this collaboration, we kicked-off a new 6-6-6 Family Medicine residency program within the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine. The ideal candidate in this position will be employed by TTUHSC El Paso at an academic rank commensurate with qualifications, and will be a key participant in the development of residency program. The candidate will provide inpatient and outpatient care, assists in curriculum design and implementation, supervise residents and provide teaching experiences for medical students from the school of medicine. The Program Director will participate in committees, and/or scholarly activities within the Department, Medical School and University Direct the planning, administration, and operation of the residency program for compliance with ACGME and RRC guidelines. Fulfill all duties and responsibilities of the program director as defined in RRC guidelines. Supervise residents and participate in teaching activities for medical students Participate in research and or scholarly activities in the department Participate in committees and other administrative duties as assigned Position Description Contributes to the university’s mission through teaching, research and service, some variation by academic unit. Major/Essential Functions Provides consultations and clinical services in outpatient and inpatient settings Maintains all applicable licenses, controlled substance registrations, board certifications, hospital privileges, and third party payer enrollments in good standing Collaborates with the Assistant Dean for Graduate Medical Education to lead the application process for establishment of a new residency program Directs the planning, administration, and operation of the residency program for compliance with ACGME and RRC guidelines Fulfills all duties and responsibilities of the program director as defined in RRC guidelines Supervises residents and participates in teaching activities in the department Participates in committees and other administrative duties as assigned Preferred Qualifications Experience and demonstrated interest in teaching students and residents Prior experience in graduate medical education administration Bilingual in English and Spanish Demonstrated leadership and administrative skills and experience for consideration of Departmental leadership appointment Required Qualifications Academic degree as defined by the academic unit and as appropriate for the position held. Demonstrated record of effectiveness as a teacher, a record of peer reviewed publication and/or peer-reviewed creative activity which has contributed to the discipline or field of study, to the candidate’s intellectual and artistic development, and to the quality of the academic enterprise; a record of professional service appropriate to the discipline; promise of growth in teaching and research or artistic and creative activity. M.D./D.O. Licensed in Texas or eligible for medical Licensure in the State of Texas Board certification by the American Board of Family Medicine Qualified for faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher Minimum of 4 years of clinical experience in family medicine, with two years as a core faculty member in an ACGME - accredited family medicine residency program About El Paso El Paso has been ranked one of the safest cities in the nation for a community of its size.
