POSITION INFORMATION: The office of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Chief of Pediatrics and Director of Infectious Disease (Chief Physician I). ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: -Formulates or assists in the formulation of overall pediatric and infectious disease policies. -Participates in in the planning and direction of departmental and divisional programs and activities. -Is responsible for or assists in the administrative aspects of the organization’s activities, such as budget preparation and control, personnel functions, procurement of equipment and supplies, and coordinating the work with that of medical or other organizational units. -Assigns, trains, and evaluates medical and related personnel. -Directs the establishment, improvement or revision of the medical work of the organization in order to improve the level of care and service or utilization of personnel. -Reviews the care prescribed by staff physicians and reviews other work performed by the organization. -Confers with DHS administration regarding pediatric and infectious disease policies and programs. Develops administrative and clinical policies, procedures, and protocols. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: -California State Physician and Surgeon’s Certificate authorized by the Board of Medical Examiners of the State of California -American Board certification in pediatrics -Specialty certification in infectious diseases -Demonstrated skills in managing medical staff -Excellent oral and written communication skills -Self-motivated, team player Physical Class 2-Light: Light physical effort, which may include occasional light lifting to a ten-pound limit, and some bending, stooping or squatting. Considerable walking may be involved. A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternate method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions Candidates must currently hold a permanent County of Los Angeles payroll title of Chief Physician I to be considered for a transfer or be reachable on a DHS certification list to be considered as a new hire.
