EOE M/F/D/V Harlem Hospital Center provides a wide range of medical, surgical, diagnostic, therapeutic, and family support services. The hospital is a 286 bed acute care facility and a designated Level 1 Trauma Center, with a full spectrum of specialty services, including a burn unit, an adult intensive care unit, a neonatal intensive care unit, a pediatric intensive care unit, stroke and a cardiac care unit. The PA is a member of the ICU team and his/her primary responsibility is to facilitate the management of critically ill patients cared for by the critical care service. Under the direction of the ICU Attending the PA will work as the primary health care provider in collaborating with a licensed physician. Assist in performing physical examinations, obtain medical histories, records pertinent data as required. Under the direction of supervising physician: arranges for tests as necessary, performs rounds, transcribes and executes specific orders, obtains appropriate authorization forms, and writes and signs preliminary discharge summaries. Performs basic/advanced life support. Efficiently assist any covering physician with surgery-related cases in the Operating Room or minor procedures as needed. Performs duties that are required to meet CMS and NYS regulatory guidelines for patient management. In Addition, the Critical Care Physician Assistant must have the following: 1. Be able to adapt quickly to changing and fluctuating workloads, 2. Strong prioritizing and assessment skills, 3. Be accountable with sound decision making and interpersonal and communication skills. Required Qualifications: Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant educational program Current NYS registration as a Physician Assistant Current certification issued by the NCCPA
