Job Description

Primary Care Physician www.wncchs.org Are you passionate about helping the underserved? Western NC Community Health Services (WNCCHS) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). We are looking for a full-time experienced physician provides professional medical services to complement the delivery of integrated team-based, whole-person, trauma-informed primary health care services at Western North Carolina Community Health Services (WNCCHS) through a Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model of care. The role of the physician is to assess, maintain and improve the health status of individuals in the communities served through timely access to evidence-based acute, preventive, and chronic disease care. The physician effectively collaborates with and/or delegates to members of the interdisciplinary health care team and provides clinical leadership and supervision to advanced practice nurses (APN) & physician assistants (PA), and indirect supervision of medical support staff. RESPONSIBILITIES- Includes but not limited to the following: -Engages in a patient-centered approach to provide timely access to high quality care for patients and their families. -Serves as a role model of professionalism to all members of the interdisciplinary health care team. -Collaborates with all Licensed Independent Practitioners (LIP) and Other Licensed Independent Practitioner (OLIP) including Physicians, APNs, PAs, Therapists, Dentists, etc., and clinical support staff to form a high performing team. -Cultivates a climate of safety, trust and compassion for patients and colleagues. -Provides medical evaluation, treatment, and consultation services to patients of the clinic in a timely manner, including responding to emergencies and answering medical questions. -Provides high-value cost-conscious care; demonstrates good stewardship of resources by limiting unnecessary testing and referrals; and considers risks, benefits, and patient preferences when making diagnostic or therapeutic intervention decisions. -Documents all patient care activities and bills for all services provided in the electronic health record. QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Training: Graduation from an accredited school of medicine with a degree of Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy is required. Completion of residency from an accredited program. Experience: 3-5 years primary care or FQHC experience preferred Additional skills required: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledgeable about current standards, methods and procedures for the delivery of evidence-based care in an efficient, organized and accurate manner. Collaboration and teamwork skills to work efficiently with others to provide new ideas and help inspire staff and management. Time management skills to be able to see a high number of patients. Interpersonal skills, compassion and empathy to build positive relationships with patients and colleagues. Flexibility to work with a variety of people differing in ages, personalities and backgrounds. Must have or be able to obtain admitting privileges to the local hospital, Proficient in Microsoft Office products and e-mail communication. Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly with patients, providers, clinical staff and leadership. Demonstrates leadership, teaching, and evaluation skills. Additional skills desirable: Bilingual in English and Spanish and/or Russian. Experience in public health
