About the Organization
Winchester Hospital is a not-for-profit, acute care, independent community hospital, located 10 miles north of Boston. Founded in 1912, we just celebrated our 100 year of providing quality medical care to our community. We have 229 beds and 2700 employees. Last year we had over 15,000 admissions and over 50,000 ED visits.

Winchester Hospital provides care in major clinical categories, including medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology, and Level IIB Special Care Nursery. Winchester Hospital also provides important subspecialties, such as cardiology, pulmonary medicine, oncology, gastroenterology, orthopedics, rehabilitation, radiation oncology, and pain management. The hospital offers state of the art technology such as the da Vinci robotic surgical system and is a leader in diagnostic services, including a diverse range of laboratory services and imaging services, including MRI, 64 slice and PET CT, digital mammography, ultrasound, and interventional radiology. The hospital also has a full-service Home Care and offers hospice and palliative care services.
Winchester Hospital was the first Community Hospital in Massachusetts to attain Magnet Status in 2003( recertified in 2008). Magnet Recognition is given for Nursing Excellence - the highest award given by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

2012 - For the 10th consecutive year, WH was named to the Boston Business Journal's "Best Place to Work" in Massachusetts list. The hospital ranked # 6 in the large company category(the hospital ranked # 1 in 2008 & 2009 - the only hospital to ever make # 1)!
2012 - For the 5th year in a row, WH received the "Outstanding Patient Experience Award" from Heathgrades, the leading independent healthcare rating organization, which ranks us in the top 10% of hospitals nationwide.
2012 - Winchester Hospital's cancer program received the "Outstanding Achievement Award by the American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer and was one of only 4 in the state of Massachusetts to receive this award and one of only 106 in the USA, to achieve this prestigious designation.
