About the Organization

Blessing Health System is comprised of Blessing Hospital, Illini Community Hospital and Blessing Physician Services. Blessing Hospital is a 307 - bed regional referral center and teaching hospital. It provides full medical, educational and social services for an area of 300,000 people. Blessing's medical staff of more than 300 physicians represents 30 specialties and sub-specialties who work with approximately 3,000 employees, offering a broad array of primary and secondary care services. The Hospital has recently expanded its patients rooms with the addition of a new patient tower. Illini Community Hospital is a 25-bed critical access hospital located in Pittsfield, Illinois. There is a consulting physician clinic and rural health clinic. Blessing Physician Services is a 200+ member multi-specialty group of employed physicians. The group has seen tremendous growth over the last few years and it continues to grow to meet the demands of the System's service area. Southern Illinois University School of Medicine's Quincy Family Medicine Center, a residency teaching program, is also located on the main Blessing campus.


About the Community

The city of Quincy (population 50,000) stands on a picturesque bluff on the east bank of the Mississippi River south of the intersection of Southeast Iowa, Northeast Missouri, and Western Illinois. Quincy is a modern and progressive city in the heart of a large and fertile agriculture area. Although its wide, tree-lined streets and historic homes remind visitors of days gone by, Quincy has positioned itself as the regional retail, educational, cultural and medical hub for a population of more than 300,000. Quincy is served by interstate highways, as well as passenger rail, air, and bus lines. The City is a 90-minute drive from Springfield, IL, a two-hour drive from St. Louis and a three and a half hour drive from Kansas City, Missouri. Quincy Regional Airport offers daily flights to St. Louis Lambert as well as Chicago O'Hare, and Amtrak provides twice-daily passenger service to and from Chicago.
