About the Organization
General Introduction
------------
For most of the 20th century, Willis-Knighton has served the needs of this community with an eye for the future. Since 1925, when the combined efforts of Doctors Willis and Knighton created Tri-State Hospital to foster a new vision of care for patients, Willis-Knighton has remained a constant leader in the field of healthcare.
The years have brought changes in technology and treatment along with tremendous growth, from one small hospital to a regional, multi-facility healthcare provider.
Willis-Knighton has offered many first's; the Center for Women's Health, the Steen-Hall Eye Institute, the Willis-Knighton Heart Institute, and Willis-Knighton South, the first satellite hospital in the state. Willis-Knighton was the first private hospital in the state to team with a public, academic medical center, Louisiana State University Medical Center. As a result, the two institutions now offer second-to-none organ transplant programs and The Cancer Treatment and Research Center.

Housing & Schools
-----
Shreveport and Bossier City are sister cities connected by the mighty Red River. We are located in Northwest Louisiana, about 2 hours East of Dallas. We have a small town feel, without the big town traffic woes, even with a population of just fewer than 500,000 and with a patient draw area of almost one million. It takes a maximum of 25 minutes to get from one side of Shreveport to the other side of Bossier City and about 10 minutes from one hospital to the next. Our community features include affordable historic neighborhoods, lush country homes and even lake frontage homes. We boast a nationally ranked blue ribbon school system, medical school and several universities.
