About the Organization
TGMG was formed in October 2010, by the group of physicians that were once part of the LifeLink Transplant Institute and has grown to include physicians specializing in cardiology, digestive disorders, endocrinology, family practice, hepatology (liver disease), internal medicine, nephrology (kidney disease), organ transplantation and surgery. TGMG physicians are located at several locations in the Tampa area.
Tampa General Hospital has been affiliated with the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine since the school was created in the early 1970s. Tampa General is the primary teaching affiliate of the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine and over 300 residents are assigned to Tampa General Hospital for specialty training in areas ranging from general internal medicine to neurosurgery. In addition, USF medical students, nurses and physical therapy students all receive part of their training at Tampa General. Faculty of the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine admit and care for patients at Tampa General as do community physicians, many of whom also serve as adjunct clinical faculty.
Tampa General is committed to providing area residents with excellent and compassionate health care ranging from the simplest to the most complex medical services.
About the Community
Visitors and newcomers to the region will be delighted to discover a vibrant arts community alive with contemporary art and a deep respect for our unique cultural heritage. The Tampa Museum of Art is a cultural landmark situated along the Hillsborough River in downtown Tampa. The Glazer Childrens Museum features 12 themed areas, including health, technology and engineering exhibits, and 170 interactivities for families that are accessible and bilingual.
Tampas Straz Center for the Performing Arts is the largest performing arts complex south of the Kennedy Center, and boasts one of the nation's leading Broadway series and is nationally respected for producing grand opera, as well as presenting a wide variety of concerts, performances and events. Other exciting cultural exhibits include the Tampa Bay History Center in downtown Tampa and the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg.
Besides enjoying Tampa Bays beautiful beaches, millions of people experience Busch Gardens annually, and the Lowry Park Zoo is ranked as the #1 Family Friendly Zoo in the country. Other major attractions include the outstanding Florida Aquarium, Museum of Science and Industry and Big Cat Rescue.
Annual regional events include The Gasparilla Parade a pirate invasion celebration of the spirit of adventure of the legendary pirate Jose Gaspar that has taken place each February for more than a century. The Outback Bowl provides championship football in January and Plant Citys Strawberry Festival in the spring offers world renowned entertainment and a never ending supply of the worlds best strawberry shortcake.
