About the Organization
General Introduction
------------
Great health care is all about results. Less pain, shorter hospital stays and quick recoveries.
We get those results with sophisticated technology, complex medical procedures and highly-qualified physicians and staff that is unmatched anywhere in the Kansas City area.
And because Shawnee Mission Medical Center is part of a network of more than 500 health care facilities sponsored by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, we promote a healing ministry that addresses each individuals mind, body and spirit.
SMMCs 54-acre campus includes a 383-bed hospital, a free-standing outpatient surgery, a community health education building, five physician office buildings and an associate child care center.
To help meet the needs of our growing community, we recently unveiled an aggressive expansion at our existing campus, along with plans to build a new facility near K-7 and 95th Street.
We boast the largest medical staff in the metromore than 700 physiciansincluding medical experts who pioneered practices now in use around the world. Our physicians and our 2,800 associates work collaboratively to care for nearly 20,000 inpatients and 180,000 outpatients annually.
Over more than 40 years, Shawnee Mission Medical Center has earned a reputation for quality, compassionate care. Our Emergency Department is the busiest in Johnson County and first in the area to earn a Chest Pain Center accreditation. We deliver more babies than any hospital in the Kansas City metro. And we have the shortest average hospital stays in the area.
Whatever your health concernfrom birth to surgical robotics, soccer physicals to diagnostic heart studies or fitness classes to minimally invasive surgery, we can help.
Everything you need to stay healthy is right here.
